Medshare’s Mission

a cause worth paddling for

In the United States 6,600 tons of medical supplies are discarded each day, according to Practice Greenhealth. MedShare, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the environment and healthcare through the efficient recovery and redistribution of surplus medical supplies and equipment to needy health facilities in the developing world.   MedShare recovers unused, unexpired medical supplies from hospitals, U.S. manufacturers and distributors that are discarded for various reasons such as, procedural excess, regulatory requirements or production overage. MedShare offers U.S. healthcare providers and suppliers an environmentally and socially responsible alternative to throwing away medical materials.

Recovered medical supplies and equipment are shipped by MedShare to qualified healthcare facilities in developing countries. To further ensure nothing goes to waste, shipments are custom-ordered by the healthcare recipient through MedShare’s online inventory database. Since its launch in 1998, MedShare has donated approximately $60 million worth of medical supplies and equipment and distributed these materials to poor hospitals and clinics in 80 countries around the world.
